Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, compression, and passive stretching akin to yoga postures. Thai massage is typically done clothed and on a mat on the floor. We provide appropriate clothing. No oils or lotions are used. Thai massage enhances flexibility, improves range of motion, improves circulation, and energized the body. Thai massage is great for athletes and others who put high demands on their body. Thai massage also benefits those recovering from injury or stress.

Deep Tissue / Thai Massage

An East meets West massage that combines the deep, slow strokes of Deep Tissue massage with the mobility enhancing techniques of Thai massage.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu Massage, developed in Japan, is usually done clothed and does not use oils or lotions. Shiatsu employs static pressure applied to pressure points to promote the flow of Chi (energy). Shiatsu includes assisted stretching, joint manipulation, and mobilization. Shiatsu, a relaxing and restorative massage, works by releasing blocked energy.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage blends gentle kneading with long gliding strokes, flowing in the direction of blood returning to the heart. An essential goal of Swedish Massage is to relax the entire body. This massage brings nurturing benefits to the physical body and supports emotional well being.

Shiatsu / Swedish Massage

Merging East and West. From Swedish massage, the relaxing blend of long, flowing, and circular strokes to calm the mind and restore the body. From Shiatsu massage, assisted stretching, compression, and balancing of Chi (energy).

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is geared toward athletes and physically active people. It includes components of Swedish massage, cross-fiber friction massage, and deep compression massage. Sports Massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injury, and prepares the mind and body for optimal performance.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage uses very slow, therapeutic strokes which are targeted at specific areas. This technique focuses on the deepest layers of muscle, tendon, and fascia. Deep Tissue massage reduces chronic pain, improves blood pressure, erases scar tissue, and improves circulation.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massage is designed to provide muscle and stress release, as well as achieve physical and spiritual balance. Warm stones are strategically placed on the body, as well as used as an extension of the therapist's hands. The heat of the stones sinks deep into the muscles, and causes a deep relaxation of the body.

Pregnancy Massage

This is a nurturing, soothing, and relaxing massage for the mother-to-be. Attention is given to the mother's comfort and stage-of-pregnancy to ease the stress on her body and mind.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy Massage combines the nurturing art of Swedish massage with the curative properties of essential oils. The client may choose the oil used, or ask the therapist for a recommendation. This massage enhances physical and mental well-being.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the application of pressure to specific points on the feet and hands. These reflex points correspond to specific body organs and systems, with beneficial effects on the organs and stimulating the nervous system. Reflexology is ideal for those always on their feet or at a computer.

My name is Klairung (Rung), founder of Thai West Massage. I'm originally from Thailand. I've been a massage therapist for 14 years.

Here at Thai West Massage, I combine and customize the best techniques from Eastern and Western modalities to achieve effective results for each person, and positively transform their day. I'm very dedicated with my work and love what I do.

I have studied at the Body Therapy Center massage school in Palo Alto; Wat Po Thai traditional massage school in Bangkok, Thailand; De Anza College massage program in Cupertino; and the Mckinnon BTC Institute in Oakland.

I have worked as a massage therapist for 14 years, for the last 10 years here in San Jose. I have taught Thai massage to massage professionals. I also do practical, hands-on evaluations of professional massage therapists.

I specifically developed Deep Tissue / Thai Massage as an effective massage therapy technique for athletes and people with injuries. This approach came out of my experience working with active professional and non-professional athletes suffering from chronic and recurring aches and pains.
